As always, I like to incorporate practice in a fun way. I found this activity online a few years back and thought it was really cute! Using dice, the students create their own arithmetic or geometric sequences, so I took her idea and then added some scissors and glue. ✂
The gist is still the same, roll a die to determine the first term, roll again to determine if you add or multiply the new number, and write the sequence. I wanted groups to do a little more than just determine if the sequences were arithmetic or geometric, so I had groups switch papers. They cut out the sequences and glued them in the appropriate pile - arithmetic or geometric. Then, they had to find the nth term, the 15th term, and the 10th partial sum of each sequence.
This activity is just procedural, and I could have assessed students using a worksheet, but sometimes, you just need to do some crafts! 🙂 Here is my version of her activity: Sequence Sort
