Projects are my thing...and sometimes, it is very difficult to create projects where the outcomes are original. I have found copying is a huge issue (again - why I eliminated homework!) For that reason, I like students' data to be authentic as to stop cheating.
While browsing TPT, I stumbled upon some great resources from Clark Creative Math. He has created some AWESOME STEM activities. Does Education Pay? Project is just one of the many resources that I have used from him. As an introduction to an extension that I created, I use a portion of his project. If you would like to purchase his project, please visit his page. (I didn't include any part of his work - since it is protected.) His project goes into a lot more detail, but I only had a day, and wanted to make the project go into a different direction.
While the project that I created doesn't involve difficult math, I feel that students can visualize how sequences and series could be seen in the real world. Even though, they can do the math without using sigma, they realize that what we learn in math class can be connected to what they already know. I am always revamping, and I think next year, I will try to incorporate more sequences and series into the project. However, I still enjoy the research aspects of the project.
Since most of my students are juniors and seniors, this project gives them a chance to research potential jobs along with the education required. It also allows students to discuss topics in relation to what they found during their investigations, like does education always equal to higher pay?
I absolutely love hearing about their future plans. This gives me a chance to get to know them better!
Some questions came up about how much I get paid! WELL...I told them to research teacher pay in NC. 😉 (I think my bitmoji says it all!)

I came across your project and I really like it. There's a little question, in the ppt you provided this site: http://www.rileyguide.com/careers/, from the preview of Clark Creative Math, the author used salary.com and payscale.com (both of them are very complicated to navigate.) I also searched on my own, (indeed.com, www.ziprecruiter.com etc.) but non are useful for this project. If you have updated website, I would be appreciative if you can share. Thank you so much!!

DeleteOh no...I haven't done this project in a while. I'm so sorry that the link doesn't provide the same information anymore. I will do some research too and get back to you!
DeleteI think this website might have the same information: https://www.bls.gov/ooh/
DeleteI will need to update this project to work with this website.
